ANNOUNCEMENTS, 2009-2010
1. CAMPUS MINISTRY OUTREACH. Season opens with the Walk for Hunger, second Sunday in
October. We help Harmar Village with their Halloween party and Christmas party; and the
homerooms provide personal Christmas gifts for residents who have little or no family. During Lent,
each homeroom fills Easter baskets with toys and candy for the younger children at the Bradley
Center.

3. NEWSPAPER. Published four times a year. Editor: Caitlin Schratz Asst. Editor/Sports Desk:

4. SPEECH TEAM. Schedule for 2009-2010 will be available in late August. Members can compete
in: Original, Extemp, Debate, Humorous, Dramatic, Duo, Prose and Poetry. The selection
of category is up to the student. There is a "no cut" policy so everyone is eligible to compete.
PUBLIC FORUM DEBATE receives a new topic each month. STUDENT CONGRESS, which parallels the
congress of the United States, allows studentsto submit bills and to receive NFL points for every
speech that they give on the floor of Congress.
5. MOCK TRIAL. The team expanded from one team to two teams in the '07-'08 season and
has continued with two teams this year. Every member will go to trial at the Allegheny County
Courthouse in the month of February, '09. Practices are on Thursday's, 2:30pm until 4:00 pm
with Atty. Kathleen Charlton.
