It is hard to believe that September is over. We have accomplished
much since school started a few short weeks ago. Some of the highlights of
science class include creatively demonstrating the differences between mass
and weight; distance and displacement; acceleration, speed and velocity;
relative motion and frame of reference; balanced and unbalanced forces. Our
budding engineers also designed a vehicle powered by a balloon and will soon
try their hand at modifying a paddle boat to discover The Law of Action
Reaction, Newton's Third Law of Motion. Plans for the sixth grade 2009
Inertialand will begin very soon. It is truly amazing what our kids can do
with a shoebox and a little ingenuity!
In Social Studies class, we are exploring ancient civilizations. Stay tuned
for our "Blast From the Past" interviews with famous people from ancient
times. In an effort to recognize past mistakes before we make them again
today, our interviewers will try to asertain what went wrong from fallen
civilizations of long ago.
Please continue to come to school prepared. The homework is on this website,
and is now being saved in a Word 97-2003 format to ensure all of you can open
the document.
