| Happy New Year!! I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas, and a restful
break. It is hard to believe that we are beginning the second half of the
school year. It will fly by.
Now that winter is upon us, if there is bad weather, please note that our
school number is 891. You can also log onto the St. Max web site for school
closings and delays. Believe it or not, I look forward to these unexpected
mental health beaks as much as the kids. In order to truly enjoy them, I
recomend that the kids stay up to date on their homework. Please spot check
that their assignments are being completed every night. It is also a good
idea to review their notes from class every night as well.
We will resume the Morning Meetings. The kids really enjoy sharing their
experiences. I hope to encourage them to share their opinions about world
events this semester. Our world is changing so rapidly. I hope to help
them become aware of the problems we face at home and how similar they are
to problems around the world. Perhaps we can solve them together by sharing
our hopes and dreams. I am sure we share the same aspirations as our
neighbors across the globe. For this reason, encourage your child to watch
the news with you. See what interests them, and encourage them to share
these thoughts and opinions with their peers in the morning meetings. I
have said before that our future is in very good hands, but they will want
to be prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow.
We will begin new units in math, science, social studies and religion. I
will update you as these projects get underway.
At the end of the month, we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week, from
January 25th to January 31th. The theme this year is Catholic Schools
Celebrate Service. More information will follow, but be ready to prepare
your family name collage using the template. Be watching the friday folder
for it.
That is all for now. Thank you for treating me so generously this
Christmas. Your kindness to me is really overwhelming. I thank you again
for the privelege of teaching your terrific kids. Here's to a great New
Year!!
