Homework

My advice about homework is to take it seriously. Please make sure you
have a quiet place to work, and from time to time, show Mom and Dad what you
are working on. I might also suggest that you establish a daily "Homework
Time". Having a routine helps with the time management of short and long
term assignments. Be as vigilant about keeping your homework schedule as
you are about keeping any athletic practice schedule. I recommend that you
tackle your least favorite subject first. That way, if your homework time
needs to be split, the hard subject will be out of the way, and you can
easily finish the rest of your assignments even though you may be tired.

If you cannot complete a math assignment because you don't remember how to
do it and hints from Mom or Dad can't help you, just have one of your
parents sign your book. Tell me first thing the next day in class, and we
will begin the lesson with that problem. If you have your homework signed
AND you asked for my help the very next class, I will consider your
assignment complete. If either the signature or your question are missing,
your homework will be considered incomplete for the day. So if you have
trouble, get mom to sign and be the first one with your hand up the next
day. It's easy! I'll help you.

Remember that the tests need to be signed and returned. If you need to
correct a test, please make sure you WRITE OUT THE COMPLETE QUESTION AND
ANSWER. Have mom or dad sign the corrections as well as the test. Without
a signature, and writing out completely, the question and answer, the
assignment will not be considered complete, and you will not receive
credit for your corrections. Also, these corrections should be returned the
day the test is due back in order to be given credit for them. So make sure
that you get credit for looking up the correct answers by writing down the
question and answer, then handing them in!! Otherwise you'd be wasting your
time doing all that work, right? It's simple. Just write everything down,
then show me what you've done. I am really anxious to see what you've
learned.

Your goal should be to budget your time and not let any assignments go to
the last minute. Then, believe it or not, homework will become a pleasant
routine, and projects will actually be fun! Trust me. You'll see.
