2009 Archdiocese Art contest winners

Every year we have the amazing
opportunity to enter the
Archdiocese of Philadelphia Art
contest. Here are the entries
chosen for this year.

Revenis (7th grade)
THis work was inspired by Gustav
Klimt's work Tree of Life.WE
used acrylic paint along with
gold leaf.

Portrait

Descriptive Self portrait by:
Grace Jennings (2nd grade)
This self portait was made using
tempera paints and a pastel
background, our favorite part of
the project was using words that
describe us to decorate our
background.

Religous scene

Holy Family by: Kathleen Melia
(3rd grade)
This was a religous picture done
in the style of Art Nouveau
artist Gustav Klimt. Kathleen's work was chosen
as a honorable mention winner out of 1,500
students in grade 3 across the Archdiocese.

Feelings / Emotions

Schnerenscnitte heart by: Corrine
Mackenzie (5th grade)
This heart was made by using the
German art form of small paper
cutting called Schnerenscnitte.
This was the first form of our
modern day Valentines cards. THe
background of the paper heart,
the famouse verse from
Corinthians is written
behind.Love is patient,love is
kind....
