Macbeth

                                                             Macbeth
                                          by William Shakespeare

The tragedy of Macbeth was written by William Shakespeare near 1605, when it was first performed in England shortly after the passing of Queen Elizabeth I and during the reign of King James I.  The tale contains elements of the supernatural, glimpses of the darkness in the human soul, murder, madness, and a dramatic unraveling of an opportunist's scheme when a seemingly impossible prophesy comes to pass.  With an unquenchable lust for power, Macbeth and his lady meet their demise in this exceptional play portraying the frail human capacity for evil and the ego that believes it can be sustained.
