About The Teacher
Parents, Relatives and Friends to this site, As of February 17th, 2012 Visitation B.V.M. School is once again an independent parish school. Initially our school was going to partner with St. Teresa of Avila in a regional situation, after the Blue Ribbon Commission announcement in January. On February 17th it was announced that St. Teresa of Avila would partner instead with Mother of Divine Providence School in King of Prussia. Niether St. Teresa nor Visitation appealed the initial recommendation. The change in February was made by the Archdiocese alone. We now move forward as a parish school; and we will be looking ahead to the many changes we hope to make to better our school overall. Visitation is blessed to have an excellent faculty and staff; and we will be working very diligently on ways to become even better than excellent in future years. Our Patroness, Our Lady of the Visitation, is our guide and model. Our Lady spoke very few words in the Gospel but she did say at Cana: "Do whatever He tells you." We shall follow her guidance and example and listen attentively to the Word of the Lord and put His words into daily action. Congratulations and many blessings for our Confirmation Class, 2012. Your celebration was a spiritually-uplifting time of graces, peace and joy! May your lives be filled with the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all you do and witness in the name of the Lord. Our prayerful wishes remain with you! Congratulations also to Our First Eucharist recipients of April 28th, 29th and May 5th. May the children and their families be blessed in abundance and stay close to Our Lord always! He has given us Himself; and may we respect and cherish this Gift! Sister Diane Marie is a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Sister has served the Visitation School and Parish Communities for almost twenty-two years. Sister has two Masters Degrees: one from Millersville University and one from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Sister also has taken courses in administration at Villanova University and has attended workshops at Loyola in Maryland and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. During the Summers of 2009, 2010 and 2011, Sister Diane attended the Principals' Academies sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as part of her on-going professional development. During the upcoming year, there will be continuing sessions as a follow-up to the Summer's program. The focus of her most recent professional updating has been Twenty-First Century learning and practice, along with the components needed to empower the teachers and students to attain the skills needed for the most updated teaching and learning techniques, along with leadership practice and theory. In addition, there has been extensive training on the Common Core State Standards and Understanding by Design. On Saturday, October 8, 2011, Sister attended the Fall Curriculum Conference, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. At this conference, many helpful items for improving the integration of curriculum areas were learned and discussed. She has been a member of one Middle States Evaluating Team for another school and has participated in the Middle States Process five times, including two of the three Middle States studies for Visitation.
Mission Label:
Mission
"We, the Administration, Faculty and Staff of Visitation B.V.M. School are dedicated to 'teach as Jesus did' through the integration of message, community and service in the Catholic formation and education of our students. We strive for and encourage the development of each person's God- given intellectual, physical, social and personal growth. Aware of each individual's call to holiness, we journey together -- teacher, parent, adult, teenager, child -- to accomplish the mission entrusted to us by Jesus, to go forth and proclaim the 'Good News' of the Lord's presence and love. Upon these efforts, we ask the blessings of the Holy Trinity, through the intercession of our patroness, Our Lady of the Visitation."
