Policies

PERSONAL COMMUINICATION DEVICES
Various PCD are permitted to be used by students on the WPSD 
campus during off-school hours. Parents and students must sign a permission form for use of any 
personal communication device, including blackberries, sidekicks, and cell phones. The 
contract includes limitations on the hourly usage of the devices as well as information 
that waives responsibility of the school if a student uses the device inappropriately. 

CONSEQUENCES of  unauthorized use of personal communication devices at school 
or in dorm:
•  1st offense - one week suspension of privileges
•  2nd offense - two weeks suspenson of privileges
•  3rd offense - one month suspension of privileges
•  4th offense - suspension of privileges for the year


ATTENDANCE
Students must be at school by 12:00 PM to participate in evening 
activities. For weekend activities, students must be in school by 12:00 
PM on Thursday.

Unexcused absences are given to students who do not return to school 
after a special evening or weekend event without a doctor's excuse.

Unexcused absences result in a grade of 'F' on any work missed during 
the day of the absence.

After 15 days of absence, a letter will be sent to the student's parents and school district. After 30 
days of absence, a meeting will be held between WPSD, the student, the parents and the school 
district to determine further action.


DRESS CODE

Students are NOT permitted to wear clothes that are too tight, too low cut 
or too short. Please check your Student Handbook for more specific 
information.

If students come to school in clothing that is not in line with the dress 
code, they may be given other clothes to wear or sent home/to the dorm to change.

HATS
Students are not permitted to wear or carry any kind of hat in school. All 
hats must be kept in lockers throughout the day. Hats will be 
confiscated from students not following the policy and returned to the 
students at the end of the school day.

FLIPFLOPS - are not permitted except on special days for fundraisers (such as Denim Day).

PIERCINGS - are only permitted in the ear. No visible body piercings are permitted.

TATTOOS - are not permitted visibly on the body. If a student has a tattoo, it must be covered by 
clothing.
