The Work Training Center was designed to provide students with
a variety of 'work activities' in a self contained classroom. The
student is assigned tasks based on his/her ability level. Staff
observe and record a variety of work related behaviors such
as: personal hygiene/self-care, frustration tolerance, social
judgement/maturity, cooperation with staff and peers, reaction to
criticism, perseverance, initiative, amount of supervision
required, learning style, motor skills, attention span,
concentration, and quantity and quality of work.
This information helps the staff prepare the student for a
workshop setting or employment in an entry level position.
In addition to 'work activities' students may work on specific skills
such as: sorting, packaging, filing, pasting, etc.
