Speech, Language and Auditory Skills .......

Speech Language Therapy at The Children’s Center has many different appearances. You may
typically find me working in the classroom along side the teachers, working in small groups in the
classroom , sitting on the floor playing or in my speech therapy room working with your child
individually, I enjoy taking advantage of the classroom environment and using the curriculum to
support speech, speechreading, language and auditory development.

We also help with technology support and work very closely with our audiologist, making sure that
all of the children’s equipment is working. We are always being updated on new hearing aids,
cochlear implant procedures and the latest technology available. We often pass this info onto the
parents to help them make educated decisions about their child's future,

Some of the speech related activities that you may see happening in our Pre K and Kindergarten
classrooms are related to reading and developing phonemic awareness. Often visual phonics is used
to support sound symbol relationships in these classrooms. The children are really doing great with
these skills.

The year is off to a great start! The children are all working really hard and are making many gains. I
consider myself very ‘lucky ‘ to have the opportunity to work with these children.

I'm looking forward to a great year!!!
