Parents

We are very lucky to have Dr. Lisa Dissinger present "What Every Parent Needs to Know" on Thursday, November 20 at 7pm in the Perry Library. Dr. Dissinger has worked with our WMA Early Childhood teachers and has met with faculty at a recent Inservice. She is informative, insightful, and direct. Please join your child's teachers and other parents as we learn as much as we can together in support of the students of WMA.

Plans are underway for our Wednesday, November 26 Prayer Service and Breakfast with our faculty guests. Please complete the letter to your child that came home in the folder and return it to your child's teacher.

The homeroom parents have been contacted regarding the supplies and "division of labor" for the breakfast. They will be calling volunteers with specific requests for help setting up the day before, serving food on Wednesday, and cleaning up.

Our Thanksgiving Prayer Service works this way. The students, their teachers, and six invited faculty guests have a prayer service. At the end of the prayer service each faculty member brings a group of eight students to his/her office. At that time they say a short blessing and read your letters to the children. Then we all meet back in K-B for an "elegant" breakfast. It is a beautiful tradition and a memorable day for both students and staff.

If you are not called to help in November, stay tuned for several opportunities to join us in December, starting with K Christmas Craft Day on Wednesday, December 3. On that day we can use eight or more parents per homeroom. The children travel among several stations working on Christmas projects with parents assisting at each station. It's a morning full of glitter, giggles, and fun. Information on December events will be posted on this website and a letter will be sent via the folder sometime during the week of November 17.

Fall Clubs began on Monday, October 20 and run on consecutive Mondays through November 24. See the K information booklet you received on your child's first day of school under the entry "Clubs" for an explanation of the WMA Club Program. Please send in dismissal information for your child's club days (club car line or Mercy After Care). Club car line dismisses at 4pm in the same location and following the same procedure as dismissal car line. Remain in your car and your child will be brought to you.

As stated in the WMA uniform policy, all WMA uniform socks are socks, not peds or sneaker sox that are hidden below the shoe. Boys' uniforms include belts. Teachers are asked to remind the children of proper uniform procedures. K teachers especially turn to parents for support in that department. Check the WMA web site under Student Life/Uniforms for complete uniform information.

Although parents are asked to call in absences to school in the morning, students also need a hard copy absence note upon return to school. These notes are kept on file.

Mark your calendars! Confirmed dates and times for parent computer volunteers are being sent via the folder.

On the first day of school you received the Kindergarten Information Booklet. This is your guide to our year. Please read this booklet and keep it handy.

Keep the K guide throughout the year as your first source of K information. The WMA Student Handbook, our K manual, the WMA web site, and the WMA Weekly should answer most of your questions. Please check these sources before contacting the teacher.
