Kindergarten B Mrs. Brennan

The number 100 is important in Kindergarten. We count to 100. We read 100 books for homework. We celebrate the 100th day of school. This year we are adding another activity in our quest for 100 - 100 new vocabulary words. Throughout the day there are many opportunities to discuss meanings of new words. Whether it is something we hear during morning announcements or something we read together, we often discuss words in context and give simple synonyms to increase the children's oral vocabulary. This year we are going to see how long it takes us to collect 100 new words. Each day we review some or all of these words. If a child volunteers and remembers the definition, he/she adds a sticker to the sticker book. If you'd like to reinforce the use of these words at home, look here periodically for the updated list. It's a fun way for us to get 100 times smarter.
