Reminders & Suggestions

Gym this week will be on Tuesday (Day 1).

Nap mats went home Wednesday.  Please return them on Monday, January 4.

A new storyteller list will be coming home the first week in January.  We would love to have you come and share a special book with us at the end of the day.  Remember, that if 2:30 is not good for you, we can be flexible with our times.

One of the goals we will be working on in the New Year is "Listening The First Time".  Our aim is to be able to say once, maybe twice but never three.  This is something that you could help reinforce and practice at home.  Another goal is to impress on each child the importance of looking at the person who is talking to them or the person to whom they are talking.  This is such an important thing to get into the habit of doing.  It also shows very good manners.

Most of the children were able to tell me their address so I passed that on to Santa.  Continue to question your child on this because it is easily forgotten if not reviewed.  If your child is not confident with knowing his/her address, please work on this over the vacation.

Don't forget to read about the special "sharing " project for the week we return.. It is something special for Mr. O.  More details are on the SHARING icon.

Cold weather is here so please dress your child for going outdoors.  Send in boots and snow pants whenever there is the least bit of snow on the ground.  We will go out.  Children love playing with each other in the snow, especially if we can make a SNOW MOUNTAIN.

Something to think about -- we will be planning a Multi-Cultural Day sometime in the winter months where we will invite parents of all beliefs and religions to share their heritage with us.  This will be a first for us but something that we hope will become a tradition in the Pre-K.

When your child is coloring, encourage him/her to go in one direction and go slowly.  This is another small motor skill that gets better and better with Practice. Just a few minutes each night can be a great help.
