Special Programs

Scholastic Book Fair
The bill has been paid, the last paid orders have been distributed to the
students, and I can now tell you that we had another very successful book
fair. Our cash profit was slightly over $2500.00, we received $320.00 in
books from Scholastic (about 25 books), and over 70 Classroom Wish List
books were donated by parents and children. My sincere thanks to all those
who helped in any way, especially Lynn Magnotta who did a tremendous job in
her first year as co-chair. I was so pleased to see so many parents shopping
with their children and the steady flow of customers on Family Night. It was
truly heart-warming is witness the children's excitement when they arrived
at the fair. So many of them really love reading! Your generosity will help
us build up our library's collection - we need to expand to meet the needs
of additional students in the building next year. At this time, I have
several books order submitted which will be paid for through our Book Fair
Fund. Revisit this web page and view the New Book section in coming weeks
to see a list of the books purchased.

Book Donation Program
During the 2003-2004 school year, a Book Donation program was instituted to
allow interested families to donate a book to the library from a library-
prepared Wish List to honor a child, to celebrate a special occasion, or to
memorialize a love one. Many families responded to the program and quite a
few books were added to the library’s collection. Information on this
year’s program will be coming home with the students in November. We
will only be targeting one or two grade level per month, probably starting
with 5th grade, so you might not be seeing the information for some time. My
thanks to those who purchased books during the 2006-07 school year.

www.backmountainlibrary.org. Simply click on the yellow and blue "Live
