Corrective Reading

Corrective Reading is designed for students who misidentify, reverse, or omit words, who have little recall and limited attention span and who read without understanding. This flexible program allows students to work in a decoding program, a comprehension program, or both. Decoding programs are appropriate for students who do not read accurately, whose oral reading is choppy and plodding, as well as for less fluent readers who cannot focus their attention on what text means.

Features:

  • Tightly sequenced lessons provide the structure and practice struggling readers need to master high-priority skills and strategies
  • Briskly paced, teacher-directed instruction and special presentation techniques engage reluctant learners
  • Ongoing assessment enables you to adjust pacing, provide immediate feedback, and offer meaningful reinforcement
  • Built-in management rewards hard work and creates enthusiasm by showing students how much they have improved
  • Level A Consists of 65 Lessons (October-January) Currently, Mrs. Grove is teaching Level A
  • Level B1 Consists of 65 Lessons (October-January) (February-June) Currently, Mrs. Hayes and Miss Swiderski are teaching Level B1.
  • Level B2 Consists of 65 Lessons (October-January) (February-June) Currently, Mrs. Wycallis, and Mrs. Valkenburg are teaching Level B2.
  • Level C Consists of 125 Lessons (February-June)
  • The Corrective Reading block for grades 3-5 runs from 9-9:40AM every day. It is most important that students are on time each day to take part in this great program!
