During Labor Day weekend, custodians and housekeepers worked tirelessly to clean the new wing and move in furniture. Then on Labor Day our fourth and fifth grade teachers came to school to unpack boxes and set up their rooms. They were helped by student volunteers and their parents, husbands, brothers sisters and friends. The long exhausting days were worth it so our students would start school in clean orderly classrooms. Thank you to all who made it possible for the school year to begin on a positive note.

Now that students have gotten used to our new bus system, things are going very well. Dismissal goes more quickly and no students have to go through the challenge of changing buses at Dallas Elementary School at dismissal. We appreciate the cooperation of Emmanuel Bus Company in improving our elementary transportation.

Wycallis Mock Election
On October 28th, Wycallis students voted for their choice in this year's Presidential Election. The results were called into the State Mock Election headquarters in Harrisburg and we will learn the results later this week.
It will be interesting to see if our students' votes compare to the local and statewide results. Thank you Mrs. Crispell and Mrs. Timlin and their students and aides for coordinating this civics activity. ***Our students supported Obama with 284 votes to McCain's 274. It is interesting that the school results are similar to the national results.

Veteran's Day Celebrated
On November 10th, the Wycallis School Family will celebrate Veterans' Day with an assembly filled patriotic songs and tributes to veteran's known to Wycallis students. Mrs. Shanahan's students will be reading essays on why we should celebrate Veterans' Day. One of the students, Derek Peters, is a finalist in a local essay contest. Poems written by students in the Mrs. Pike's Gifted Class will also be included in the program. Look for our Wall of Honor with the names veterans submitted by students in the main entrance to the school.
