Classroom Expectations
My name is Mr. Hando and I will be your English instructor for this
academic year. I will strive to uphold the excellent quality of education
that has made Wyoming Area a highly respected school and strive to help each
student reach their maximum potential. I will work to make this class
productive and interesting using various teaching techniques including
Multiple intelligence theory and Bloom¡¦s Taxonomy.
As a high school student, you will be expected to be courteous and
respectful to your fellow students, teachers, or any guests while in my
classroom. You alone are responsible for your class work and behavior.
Please read over the following rules that are to be observed while under my
supervision.
* Unexcused lateness without appropriate pass will result in a
deduction from your overall grade for that marking period.
* Raise your hand before speaking or leaving your seat.
* Plagiarism or cheating will result in a loss of any credit (failure)
for that test or assignment and notification of both parents and
administration.
* Unexcused absences will result in zero credit for any missed test or
assignment on that day with no chance of a makeup test or assignment.
Unexcused absences will also result in deductions from you total grade
average for that marking period.
* Excused absences: It is your responsibility to make up any missed
assignments or tests. See me immediately when you return to school to
schedule makeup due dates and tests. You must make up any assignment or
test within THREE days of your return or you receive a zero/failure.
* All electronic devices such as cell phones, ipods, cd players, etc.
will be confiscated according to district policy.
* Food and drink is not allowed and if found will be confiscated
according to district policy.
Attendance and involvement in the activities and daily lesson is required
for a full understanding of the material. Participating in class in both
group and individual work will be assessed daily. If more than (FIVE)
unexcused classes are missed I reserve the right to deduct points from your
total final grade for that marking period. Daily behavior in class is
expected and will be factored into the final grade for each marking period.
DISRUPTION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. On a first offence I will issue a verbal
warning. If misbehavior occurs a second time I will give a verbal warning
and contact the parent/guardian of the student in question, loss of points
may also result. A third occurrence will result in an automatic deduction
of all points from the class participation grade for that marking period,
further parent notification, and possible formal administrative action.
All other issues will be treated as directed in the WA student
Handbook. I am available to answer any questions, clear up confusion, or to
help guide you the best I can.
