Equations, Algebraic Expressions, Variation, Inequalities, Probability,
Functions, Mathematical Patterns and Data Analysis
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the Algebra 1, Geometry curriculum,
or presently taking Geometry.
Textbook: Algebra 2

Homework Homework will be given for practice, preparation, extension and
creativity as per district policy.
Policy: Homework is assigned 3-5 times per week and checked
regularly. Homework will count towards 20% of the student’s quarterly grade.
• All assignments will be posted on the instructor's homework hotline.
• It is the responsibility of any absent student to obtain all missed
assignments.
In the case of a planned absence, it is the students’ responsibility to
acquire all future assignments and material from the instructor. Students
absent due to illness or other circumstances should obtain the information
for the missed material from the instructor.
Grades will be assigned according to district policy.
Grade Numerical Value
A 95-100
A- 90-94
B 85-89
B- 80-84
C 75-79
C- 70-74
D 65-69
F 0-64
Quarterly grades will be calculated using a cumulative system derived from
exam scores, quiz scores, homework and notebooks.
Two or three exams will be given per marking period. Each exam will count
equally toward the student’s quarterly grade. The average of all the exams
given in the quarter will count 40% towards the student’s quarterly grade.
Four or more quizzes will be administered each quarter. The average of
these quizzes will count 20% towards the student’s quarterly grade.
A homework grade will count 20% towards the student’s quarterly grade.
Attendance is crucial to the success of the student in Algebra II.
Notebooks will be collected at the conclusion of each quarter. Notebook
pages will include the date and all notes given by the instructor for that
day. Students should copy everything written on the chalkboard or overhead
projector by the instructor, unless specifically told not to do so.
Notebooks are required to be neat and orderly. Material from other subjects
should not be placed with Geometry notes. The notebook grade will comprise
the final 20% of the student’s quarterly grade.
Study Island is a computer program recently initiated at Wyoming Area.
Students are required to complete selected assignments each quarter on the
website. While a home computer will facilitate the student’s progress,
there are many computers available at school to complete the assignments.
To Summarize:
Average of major tests (2 or 3) 40%
Average of quizzes (4 or more) 20%
Homework grade 20%
Notebook grade 20%
Note: Excessive absences will severely hinder the student’s progress which
may result in a failing grade.
