First grade is another step in your child's education journey. When parents and teachers work together to aid in a child's success, the child will attain their own individual potential. If there are ever an concerns or problems, please contact me at any time.Below is listed some day to day procedures.

• If your child is absent an excuse is required when your child returns to school.
• Students have been given a folder to carry daily work. One side is labeled "Home". The papers on this side will remain at home. The other side is labled "School". These papers must be returned to school the next day. Homework papers are marked H.W. at the top right hand corner.
• Scholastic orders will be sent home monthly. Your child is under no obligation to order books. If you decide to order books, please make the check out payable to Scholastic Books.
• There are also some great educational sites avaliable on the links site.
• The children are encouaged to bring in books to read to the class. Please practice these books at home so the child feels successful.

• Share conversations with your child over meal times and other times you are together. Children learn words more easilyt when they hear them spoken often. Introduce new words at every opportunity.
• Read together every day. Spend time talking about stories, pictures and words.
• Be you child's best advocate. Keep informed about your child's progress in reading. and ask the teacher about ways you can help.
• Be a reader and a writer. Children learn habits from the people around the
