Homework is an essential part of learning. It helps the teacher determine
if a student has mastered a concept or needs additional instruction. I will
make every attempt to send home missed work with the child listed on the
homework buddy form which you have filled out.

Reading Homework--
       1) Practice new words sent home for the week and cut out the flash
cards for at home practice. Store cards in a word box (shoe box that is
decorated by the child). Students who know all the words on Tuesday will
receive an extra star toward the treasure chest.
       2) Students should read aloud phonics library book and bring in
raffle ticket for weekly prize drawing. The phonics library books are the
small black and white booklets your child brings home in his/her folder.
There are usually three sent home per week. The children should read these
books aloud to a family member. This will foster the students' love of
reading. The raffle tickets will be sent home at the beginning of each
theme. OWhen your child has read the phonics book, simply fill in the raffle
ticket and send it into the classroom. This is a fun way to encourage the
students to read at home. A drawing will be held on Friday.
      3) Beginning in October/November the students will be given a Busy
Bee spelling paper. It will be marked with a H.W. and is due on Friday of
the same week. Begin practcing the spelling on Monday so the children are
prepared by Friday.

Math homework--
