Your child will have homework Mon thru Fri. They will receive homework in Reading, Math, Spelling, and English. We ask that all Homework and Tests, for each subject, be signed before being returned to school. There will be many stories sent home throughout the week. Please read these with your child nightly. Doing so will help your child's vocabulary, comprehension skills, and fluency skills develop. In addition, they will be given a new list of vocabulary words weekly to go along with the week's Reading lessons and stories. When the students reach the third theme in Reading, they will begin to bring home Spelling words to study. Please practice these nightly to prepare for the weekly tests. When the students reach the fifth theme in Reading, they will begin to develop some writing pieces. The students will learn and complete a new form of writing each theme until the end of the year. The students will be asked to complete one writing piece from each theme, on their own, at home. Please check your child's folder nightly for his/her homework. Anything on the Papers for Home side of the folder, should remain at home. Try to review any completed worksheets that are in the folder. The more practice, the more your child will retain the information. Thank you for your help nightly with the Homework. If at any point you and/or your child are not able to understand the homework, just send it back with a note. I will review the information with your child the next day.
