Homework

WELCOME TO 3RD GRADE!!!

We are wrapping up Theme Two, Celebrating Traditions, just in time for our
Thanksgiving celebration!. When we return from our holiday break we will
begin Theme 3.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving and thankyou all for your wonderful support
throughout the First Quarter. Looking forward to a wonderful year with your
children as we approach the second Quarter and New Year at lightening
speed.

We began with our spelling list with "homework" activities to help learn the
list of words. This year we will have 25 words at a
time.

We have begun Our Science and Math lessons as well. "Pop" quizzes are given
on these topics for quick checks on comprehension. No worries. No studying
involved. Any actual tests will be announced with study sheet handouts.

As you may have noticed a Weekly Skills Test was given with completion of our
lessons within the weekly story. Practice is given on every skill through many
different approaches. They are already getting the hang of it! However, my
expectation is that they will improve as the year progresses. This expectation
should easily become a reality as we really get into the swing of things, all
the "cobwebs" are cleared out and they settle into their new environment.

Math facts are being reviewed at this time and more practice is needed with
the "old" addition and subtraction facts, since in Third grade, the emphasis
is on multiplication and division, with multiplication facts covered by
Christmas! Right around the corner(ahhh!)

We have begun MULTIPLICATION!!! Try them at home with this. They
enjoy it even though
it is tough!

Here's Hoping for a Great Year! I will keep you informed. FYI Mrs. Bolus
