What are these portfolios?

A portfolio is a form of alternative assessment. It is used as a
test grade
when it is finally handed in as a grade. It acts as a storage
device for
mini assignments that are graded. The student then has the
opportunity to
constantly fix and do better on most assignments. There is a
portfolio for
Reading, English and
Math. Check in with your children to make sure that all of their
enties are
up to date and organized and that they are doing the best that
they can.
The
student needs to hand in 5 of their best entires in the end for a
final
grade.

How Do Homework Slips Work?

Students will recieve a homework slip each time they forget a
homework
assignment. Each homework slip will result in 5 points being
deducted from
their homework grade. If your child recieves three slips in a
quarter, they
will be assigned after school detention.

What are Paperback Plus Assignments?

Along with their daily work, book reports, and other projects,
your child
will be reading additional books in the classroom. When they
complete the
readings, they are to complete a work packet relating to the book
they read.
This packet is used as a quiz grade in reading.
