Fifth grade is an important stepping stone in your child’s education as he/she learns to work more independently. One of our goals is for your child to become familiar with having several teachers and changing classes. This will prepare your child for the secondary center. In order to accomplish this, your child will have three teachers for academic classes. My homeroom students will receive instruction from me in Reading, English, and Spelling. Mrs. Sabola will teach Math to all classes. Mrs. Belza will teach all students Science, and I will teach Social Studies to all fifth grade students. Remedial Reading classes for eligible students are taught by Mrs. Flickinger. IEP students assigned to my homeroom will also receive instruction from Mrs. Peppe. When changing classes, it is important for your child to remember to bring all supplies as he/she will not be able to return to homeroom for forgotten things. When changing classes, your child needs five things- the textbook, notebook, folder, planner and a pencil. During the course of the day, many things can go on in school. If your child comes home upset, don’t jump to conclusions until you have spoken to me about the situation. Together we can work out any misunderstandings that may arise. Please remember that I am here to help you and allow your child to grow and mature. Together we will take a year long advanture that will be remembered as the best school year ever!!
