Course Description: This course will provide an opportunity for personal exploration and development of sound skills.

Student Objectives:
The students will be able to:
  • Describe, analyze, interpret and judge clay works.
  • Learn to use specific clay tools.
  • Explore ancient traditions.
  • Become aware of current careers in art.
  • Develop technical skills of hand building.
  • Solve design problems.
  • Practice original thinking.
  • Apply surface decorating techniques.
  • Become aware of current careers in art.

  • Learn about historic innovations in ceramic art.

Incomplete Policy:
Students will not be given an incomplete grade in this course without sound reason and documented evidence as described in the Student Handbook. For a student to receive an incomplete, he or she must be passing and must have completed a significant portion of the course.
