Objectives
To introduce students to the electives available through the art
department.
To increase students' understanding and appreciation of visual art
created by others; and to help students gain the knowledge, skill, and
confidence needed to improve their own works.
To build a visual art vocabulary.
To introduce students to the steps of art criticism and use these steps
to find the aesthetic qualities of a work.
Homework
Each student is responsible to hand in a total of ten drawings per
quarter from direct observation.
Prerequisites
Eighth grade art or grade nine.

Elements and Principles of Art, Aesthetics, Art Criticism, Art History,
Drawing, Painting, Crafts, Sculpture, Printmaking
Evaluation
The final grade is an average of homework, projects and activity grades.
Assessment criteria are listed with individual projects.
