French I Course Description
French I employs a multi-media approach to the learning of a foreign
language. Video, audio and computer work is done along with the learning of
French dialogues in order to enhance the student's understanding of the
French language. Along with the language, the culture and history, geography
and everyday events of France and its territories will be discussed and
learned.
French II Course Description
The multi-media approach continues in French II. More topics for dialogues
are added along with the continuation of culture, history geography and
events of France and its territories. Pronounciation, reading , and speaking
with a better command of comprehension is stressed. The use of internet
research will be incorporated into this course.
French III Course Description
French III continues with the multi-media approach with the expansion of the
four basic skills of language learning along with additional grammar. It
explores the language, written and spoken, along with the cultural aspects
of
France. Added to this is the study of French Impressionism and "The Little
Prince" by Antoine de St. Exupery. Internet research will be incorporated
into the course.
French IV Course Description
A multi-media approach to the learning of the language continues. Enhanced
vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and complex sentence structures will be
stressed in French IV. Speaking, reading and listening comprehension skills
will be the focus of class participation. The various verb tenses will
continue along with sentence structure and communication skills. An
introduction to French Literature, research and various authors will be
explored. Also, the influence of historic events and its impact on French
culture and world events will be presented.
Writing/Communication (Grade 8 )
Writing and Communication ids designed to develop writing, speaking, and
listening skills. The academic standards for writing, speaking and listening
define the skills and strategies employed by effective writers. Because of
the unique nature of writing, classroom instruction will focus on the modes
of writing, public speaking, grammar usage and conventions and essential
writing skills.
