Homework

Homework assignments are meant to be brief
reviews of that day’s work.
They should not take more than 15 minutes to complete.
If your child is consistently spending more
time than this on homework, please let me
know. We will need to discuss this and figure
out what the problem is. I do
not want to see anyone getting frustrated!

Spelling: New spelling words are given on the first day of new lessons. The due date for each spelling assignment can be found on the reminder form that will come home on the first day of each lesson. *****Please note that we started a brand new reading series last year. Many of you have had older siblings in my class before and may be use to starting spelling in January. The new series starts spelling from day one. This proved to be a wonderful change last year.*******
Reading (High Frequency Words): Please practice reading these words with your child daily. You will need to sign the book each week to let me know that you practiced the new and old words with your child. These words are sight words only and are not meant for the children to learn how to spell at this point in time. New sight words are given on day one of each lesson.
Reading (take home stories) These stories should be read by your child to you, signed and returned the following day. These stories are generally sent home with every other lesson!
Math: Math homework is generally given two times a week. And always given the day before a test. You can find this homework in the the f.i.s.h. binder.
Robust Vocabulary: Each lesson has one day of robust activities to complete with it.
