Parents,

Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 school year. We are looking forward to the year
with it's many changes and opportunities. For the first time this year all
students will have one 9 weeks class in each of the following classes: Family
and Consumer Science, Technology Education, Health, Music, Art and Physical
Education. Students in grades 6 and 7 will have their English and Reading
classes scheduled together in a Language Arts Block the is 2 periods in
length. The Middle School will be running on an 8 period day this year to
accommodate these changes.

We are pleased to welcome a new staff member this year. Mr. Clayton Miller
will be teaching all the technology Education classes. Mr. Miller is a 2009
graduate of California University of PA.

We believe that communication is a very important key to student success. The
Middle School faculty provides a number of ways for you to communicate with
your child's teachers, guidance counselor, and principal. In addition to
e-mail and voice mail, each staff member maintains a Web Page with important
information regarding assignments, special events, and other valuable
information. Assignments are updated weekly. In an effort to inform you of
your child's progress, each teacher maintains current grades that are uploaded
at least one time per week.

At the mid-point of each grading period every parent will be mailed an Interim
Report showing their child's current grades. Students' who have a grade of
69% or lower will also receive an individual progress report for that subject.

If further communication is necessary, individual conferences can be requested
through Mrs. Zimmerman in the Guidance Office at 756-9400 Ext. 5255.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call the Middle School
Office at 756-9400 Ext. 5235.

Thank you,
Sandi R. Shaner
