How important is reading? What is required?
Reading and writing is the heart of the Eighth Grade language arts program. Every student is required to read 20 pages a night and keep an account of the pages and responses to literature in the packet distributed to students. Completion of the packet is considered a major grade. Every student will read two Civil War novels before attending the Gettysburg trip in October. Two essays required. All students are required to read the works presented on the Reading Olympics list. Whether a student attends the Olympics or not is their perogative. The requirement is to read these books and become familiar with what is current in children's literature.Back to Top
