Current Event Presentations

 

Requirements:

1.      Your presentation must be on a current event, within the last year.

2.      Your topic must be related to the class. I must approve the topic prior to you presenting it.

3.      You will turn in article it for your presentation no later than one week before the due date.

4.      You will be required to make an oral presentation on this topic using at least two sources.

 

Grading Criteria: Overall keep it simple but make a point. Know the subject and present it in your own words.

 

POWER POINT SLIDE SHOW (50 pts)

____ Has Title page with your name, Title of presentation and list of sources (5 pts)

 

____Uses large lettering that can be easily seen and read by all members of the class (5 pts)

 

____Pictures, symbols, etc can be easily seen by the class (5 pts)

 

____Contains a symbol, picture(s) and sentence(s) which summarize what the presentation is about

(10 pts)

 

____Effort and neatness (10 pts)

 

____At least 8 slides that are well organized and used in some part of the presentation to illustrate a main

     point (10 pts)

 

____ A printed slide show is turned in at the time of the presentation (5 pts)

 

Oral Presentation (50 pts)

____ Topic and article turned in one week in advance (5 pts)

 

_____Introduction, what topic is about, how it applies to your class (10 pts)

 

____ Discussion, What is the key research being done on the subject? How and why is this research being

done. (10 pts)

 

____Refer to additional information beyond the article you were used.   (5 pts)

 

____ Give additional questions that will result from the research or that are important but not being

addressed in the research. (5 pts)


____ Presentation can be heard by the class, is well organized, and well rehearsed. At least 3 but no more

than 6 minutes long (15 pts)

 

** Not acceptable: Reading your material. Note cards or an outline may be used for reference.
