Hello future BEHS students!
My name is Mrs. Weed and I am your World History teacher, your United States
History teacher, your Law Education teacher or maybe your homeroom teacher
this year.
I have been teaching at Bishop England High School for going on 17 years in
both the Social Studies and World Language departments. When I began
teaching at Bishop England I taught French levels one and two and World
History. Now I teach World History levels A-1 and A-2 and United States
History at the A-2 level and Law Education at the A-1 level.
I also serve as the Freshman Board adviser for the Class of 2013. Last year
the freshman class raised over $2000.00 in fund raisers by selling the
"Gracious Goodness Christmas Cookbooks", the new Bishop England rally
flags,long-stemmed red carnations for Valentines Day and by having several
bake sales in the courtyard at lunch!
Check out my website under the "smiley face" and find out more about the
Freshman Board!
My homeroom is homeroom 246A, a SOPHOMORE HOMEROOM this year.
Homeroom 246 maintains a legacy as we have won the Sally Foster wrapping paper
fund raiser for the last ELEVEN years and we have placed in the spirit link
contest in past years too. Our homeroom has won first and second place in the
school in the spirit poster contest and door decoration contests too. Our
homeroom has met their CSMC penny drive goals every year and we continue to
strive for excellence!
If you try out for the wrestling team at BEHS, I may see you in conditioning
class/aerobics class during wrestling season as I help Coach Spence out with
conditioning workouts as your group fitness instructor. Be prepared to sweat!
I graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
French in 1987 and then went on to Graduate School at the Citadel where I
earned my Masters in Arts in Teaching Social Studies in 1992. I have won the
"Who's Who Among American High School Teachers" six times in the past 16
years. I am most proud of that honor as students like yourselves have
nominated me for these awards.
I am a certified group fitness instructor in my "other life" or second job
outside of BEHS. I teach step aerobics, interval and weight lifting classes at
the City of Charleston James Island Recreational Complex about 3-5 times per
week after school. If you're ever on "the island" (James Island) come by and
take a class or just stop in and say hello!
I enjoy teaching in the Social Studies Department and working with the
Freshman Class here at BEHS! I look forward to working with all of you in your
quest for academic excellence this school year!!! WOOHOO! Go Bishops!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Weed
