                Notebook (3 ring binder)

                Pen/pencil

                Calculator

                 

Course Outline:

I.                     Introduction to Chemistry and Matter (Chapters 1 –2)

II.                   Scientific Measurement (3)

III.                 Atomic Structure (4-5)

IV.                 Periodic Table (6)

V.                   Chemical Bonding (7-8)

VI.                 Chemical Names and Formulas (9)

VII.               Moles and Stoichiometry  (10-12)

VIII.             The Behavior of Gases(14)

IX.                Acids and Bases (19)

X.                  Organic Chemistry (22)

 

Procedures:

1.        Bring your textbook, notebook with paper, pen and pencil, and calculator to class every day if you wish to earn full credit for the day. 

2.        Enter the room, get to your seat and begin copying the day’s agenda.  Have your homework on your desk and ready to turn in when class begins.

3.        After attendance has been taken, be prepared to take notes or start your laboratory activity.

4.        If you are absent from class, you must make up missed work within the number of school days missed. You are responsible for obtaining missed assignments before class starts. 

5.        Extra help will be on Tuesdays at 7:30 and at 2:50.  Extra help is also available by appointment.

 

Rules:

1.         Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings or you will be considered tardy.

2.         Have all of your materials everyday.

3.         Listen while others are speaking. (especially the teacher)

4.         No food or drink of any kind is allowed in the classroom.  This includes gum.

5.         If you have a question, raise your hand and I will gladly answer your question.

6.         Display proper laboratory behavior.

7.         Show respect for yourself, your peers and your teacher at all times.

8.         If you need to get out of your seat do so after the teacher finishes lecturing.

 

Consequences:

1.          First offense:  Verbal warning

2.          Second offense:  30 minute detention, parent or guardian called

3.          Third offense: Disciplinary referral.

Any behavior that results in the disruption of the class will result in the immediate removal with the benefit of the consequence system.

 

Grades:

                Your grade will consist of class work, homework, laboratories, quizzes and tests.
