Our interesting looking visitor is called
a Hickory Horned Devil.






He turned into a cocoon on the third day where he
will stay for 11 to 23 months.


It hatched on June 13th into a huge Regal Moth and laid tiny yellowish eggs which you can barely see in the first picture.  The eggs should hatch in 7 to 10 days.
