Accelerated Reader is a reading motivation and management program.
It is an incentive program aimed at motivating students to read more and to
better comprehend what they have read. The students earn points as they
read and successfully complete the computerized tests. When students first
begin taking home AR books, Mrs. Marlowe and I sit down with the students
and help them take the tests. As they gain confidence in themselves and the
program, students take the tests on their own. I have AR books in the
classroom for students to check out. They can also check AR books out from
our library.
