Applications of Algebra 1 includes the study of variables, field properties, operations on matrices, slope, the equation of a line, solving and graphing linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring techniques, solving quadratic equations, solving systems of linear equations, and probability and statistics. The South Carolina End of Course Examination will count 20% of the final grade. Supplies needed: 3-Ring Binder Notebook Paper Graph Paper TI-83 plus calculators will be made available to students during class Grading Policy: Nine weeks grades will be based on grades from chapter tests, quizzes, homework, and class work. Chapter tests are always announced in advance. Any student absent on the day of a test is responsible for arranging a time with me to make up the test. No test grades will be dropped. Quizzes will be given on a regular basis and will sometimes be unannounced. At the end of the 9 wks, I will drop your lowest quiz grade before averaging your final grade. Homework will be checked regularly and a grade will be assigned based on the effort and completeness of the work. Homework is only accepted on the day it is due…no late homework is accepted.
