Class Newsletter: 4th Grade

It is hard to believe that the first quarter is already past!
There are a few things that will be going on for the second quarter that you need to be aware of.
Fruit Break
: We will no longer be having a fruit break time.

Supplies: We will be doing a supply check on Monday. Supplies that your child is short on will be written on Monday's homework in their assignment pad and they will have until Wednesday to replenish them.

Homework: I am no longer accepting late homework.
If your child consistently does not turn homework in, I will consider this an obedience issue and will send the problem on to Mr. Washburn.
Homework grades will be issued as I warrant the necessity and will be unannounced.
I will be checking the homework daily for homework club and then reminding on Friday morning for those who did not have it the day it was due. If your child is consistently doing the homework, it will be apparent in their grades.

Classroom folders:

Blue: Language arts This folder will rarely come home.

Orange: Math: This folder will rarely come home and will contain challenge sheets that are issued in class. I will have them put notes that need to go home in their "take home" folder.

Green: Science: This folder will come home daily and will contain the science notes for the chapter being studied. This is for review purposes NOT for working ahead and finishing all the notes. Catch up is fine, but please do not work ahead. Just review what has been covered.

Yellow: History: Same as science.

I issue a responsibility grade for having the necessary notes in class. You may need to help your child with organizing their folders. Some struggle in this area no matter what I do.

Eagle Bucks and rewards: Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Gresh for hosting our store last week!

I am in need of items to sell at our Eagle Bucks Store. If you are able to pick up a few things here and there at the dollar store that may appeal to your child, feel free to send it in at any time. I have also informed the students that if they have things around their room that they no longer use, we can do a garage sale type system where another's "junk" may be someone's treasure. that always works fun!

PARENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
I have been "called on the carpet" so to speak about not asking for help. I am very busy and feeling a little overwhelmed right now. There is nothing I would like to cut out of our fun class system, therefore I have come up with some  ways that parents can help out.
If you are interested, please let me know what you would like to do, and I will swallow my "super woman" pride and let you :-)

  • Someone to file graded papers and put them into their signed paper folders each Monday or Tuesday. This could be done by coming about 30 minutes early before car line and picking up the box and dong it across the hall in the day care room.
  • Someone to plan our field trips ( I will let you know how to do it and where I would like to go)
  • Someone to come on Wednesday and watch the students at recess for one hour (30 minutes with boys and then 30 minutes with girls). See the daily schedule for our crazy schedule.  I literally have to be 2 people on Wednesday.
  • Someone to pull quizzes, tests, and worksheets from math, history, science, and health and file them together into groups.
  • I could use a parent about 3 mornings per week for about 10 minutes to meet with 10 students to check their lockers, their folders, and their assignment pads for organization and issue stickers and give pointers for how to stay organized.
  • It would be helpful if a parent or 2 would be willing to decorate our classroom for Christmas. I have lights and bulletin board items, but whatever you would like to do would be fun for me and helpful. This could happen any day after school after Thanksgiving break.
  • I  need a parent once a month to bring the homework champs lunch and watch them eat at the picnic tables. Thank you Mrs. Bates for doing the first Champs picnic.
  • Lastly, I need 2 parents each month to come in the morning for about 45 minutes and set up our Eagle Bucks Store and help the kids "spend" their bucks.
Thanks and let me know! I know everyone is busy, but now noone can say I didn't ask!
