Hi! I'm Mrs. Minahan.
I have been teaching at Northside for twelve years. 10 full time and 2 part
time.
I have my BS degree in Psychology and education from Liberty University.
I grew up in Charleston, and after I married my husband in 1978, we moved to
many different states. We settled in New Jersey where we helped start a
church and ministered for 15 years.
In 1995, we moved to Charleston, so our children could attend Northside
Christian School.
We have four wonderful children. All four of them have graduated from
Northside and gone on to college.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and now lives in
Seattle, Washington where he is currently working on his masters degree in
Set Design engineering. We miss him.
Heidi is married and studying nursing in Detroit, Michigan. She plans to
graduate in May of 2010. Her husband, Kit,is the youth pastor at Intercity
Baptist Church in Detroit, and will complete his second masters degree in May
2010 from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jessica attended Northland Bible college for 1 1/2 years and is now
attending Trident Technical College and studies piano through the Royal
American Conservatory of Music.
She is a private piano and voice instructor and has her own business
providing music for weddings, parties, and other various social events here
in the Charleston area. She also teaches at a local Arts Academy.
Michelle is the youngest, and is a recent graduate from Northside. She
attends Bob Jones University and is studying nursing.
Some things I enjoy doing are reading well-written novels, playing games
like Scrabble and Yahtzee with my family, and playing the piano and singing.
Above all, I love to study and learn new things.
I love teaching and look forward to a great year!
...although the primary task of schools is to develop the intellect of the
young, it is impossible to do this without having a direct impact on the
development of their sense of spiritual realities and spiritual values...
Jacques Maritain (1882-1973)
The foremost purpose of this classroom is to integrate Biblical principles
into all that is taught. It is to develop the moral character of the child as
they learn about their world and develop their ability to think about their
world in light of biblical Christianity.
This year we will continue to develop our skills in reading and writing.
Every child must be able to read God's Word and understand it and relate it to
others.
We will continue to develop our math and science skills in an effort to
appreciate and learn about God's Creation realizing the awesome order that
exists in our universe that evidence absolute truth.
We will also focus on our interpersonal skills according to the commands in
Scripture. Ephesian 4:32
In our class, we will strive to bring glory to God in all that we say and do.
Colossians 3:23
We will learn and put into practice Biblical principles of kindness and
acceptance of each other as we work together.
I will strive to have open lines of communication with parents, so that we
can work together as a team in the intellectual, emotional and spiritual
growth of your children. I will also strive to promote the fundamentals of
responsibility and accountability that students should have in order to
succeed in all areas of life.
