Organizing Your Speech:
Intro: Hook your audience with pathos or logos: an interesting
story or fact that will get our attention. Follow this up with your thesis,
or main point. By telling us your stance, you are getting credibility (ethos)
and letting the audience know what your focus will be for the speech.
Body 1: State one of your three main reasons why you feel the way you
do. This point should support your thesis, and its main appeal should be
logos (reason). Let us know where you got your facts and how they support
your thesis.
Body 2-3 The following two paragraphs are similar to your first
body, only with two other reasons of support for the thesis. Remember, the
more logos (reasons and facts) that you use, the more likely you will
persuade us to agree with your stance.
Conclusion: Restate your main points; basically, sum up what you want
us to know. Leave your audience with an interesting fact or quote or hard-
hitting statement- something that we will remember.
