I am privileged to be a member of the RMSA faculty, and it is my pleasure to
teach your child. It is my goal to help every student realize their full
potential and be successful in gaining new skills and knowledge.
Education & Experience: I have a degree in Fine Arts from the College of
Charleston, and have completed coursework toward a master’s degree in
Administration from the Citadel. I began teaching in Dorchester Two in
1983. I taught at Knightsville for 14 years. While teaching at
Knightsville, I also served as an itinerant teacher at Flowertown,
Newington, and Givhans Elementary schools. I have taught at Rollings since
it opened as the School of the Arts.
Arts Advocacy & Professional Development: I have worked to improve
and promote arts education through involvement in a variety of
organizations, programs, and responsibilities. These include serving as the
district visual arts coordinator, as a board member for the South Carolina
Art Education Association, as a steering committee member and teacher in the
GATEWAY program, as a member of the steering committee for the
Trident Regional Arts Collaborative Endeavor (TRACE), as a member of
accreditation teams for SACS and NASDTEC. I have participated in many,
varied courses, workshops and programs offered in our district. I completed
the Curriculum Leadership in the Arts course offered through the SCDE. I
served on the revision committee for the SCDE Gifted and Talented Best
Practices for Identification of Artistically Gifted and Talented Students:
Referral, Screening, and Assessment. I have also facilitated workshops for
DD2, SCAEA, and SCAAE.
Honors and Awards:
National Art Education Association Southeastern Region Middle Level Teacher
of the Year, South Carolina Art Education Association State Middle Level Art
Teacher of the Year, Rollings Middle School PTSA Teacher of the Year,

Our RMSA School-wide Academic Goal:
Through measurable means, all students will make improvements in all core
areas.
