Rollings Middle School of the Arts Discipline Plan
All teachers expect students to behave maturely and responsibly. As such, all
of your child's teachers will handle discipline in the same fashion. Each
student must be aware of expected behaviors as outlined in the student
handbook and adhere to these behaviors at all times. Failure to do so will
result in the consequences listed below. Please realize that rules are in
place to provide all students with a safe, comfortable, and secure learning
environment. Our rules are:
-
Be respectful.
-
Be responsible.
-
Be resourceful.
-
Be safe.
Consequences:
-
Warning.
-
Think Time.
-
Detention
-
Parent contact.
-
Office referral.
Severity Clause:
In the case of extreme disrespect or behavior harmful to others, students will
go directly to step 5.
The "slate" will be wiped clean after each grading period. However, a student
who reaches the maximum of four detentions in a period will have his/her
parent contacted immediately. If a student then continues to accumulate
detentions, parents will be notified, and the student will be referred to the
office. All detentions will be kept in a log in the cafeteria. All teachers'
assigned detentions are listed and accumulated together in that log for each
grading period. All teachers will utilize this log in an effort to keep
discipline consistent.
Students also receive rewards for behavior choices. Some of these rewards are
listed below:
-
Stickers
-
Certificate
-
Treats, such as pencils and other goodies
-
Homework passes
-
Class parties
