About The Teacher

Welcome to our class web page! Please visit this site throughout the school
year to obtain information about class activities and find a list of
assignments and upcoming assessments. Now, all about me....

I am so blessed to have a most wonderful family. I am married and have
three wonderful children--Ryan, Rebekah, and Jackson. Ryan is 13 and is now
in 8th grade here at Rollings. His core is Theatre Arts. He is a loves to
skateboard and play soccer. Rebekah just turned 8 and is a wonderful
artist. She loves her American Girl doll, singing and dancing, and
gymnastics. Most especially, she loves playing with her kitty and spending
time with her great grandmother. She is in 3rd grade at Summerville
Elementary. Jackson is almost five and loves to ride his bicycle, play with
balls and balloons, play Halo, and eat! He's just the cutest, smartest
little boy in the world!

My husband Mike works at Cane Bay High School. There, he teaches math and
engineering classes. Yes--two math teachers!) He is also the Diving Coach
at the College of Charleston. During the Fall and Spring our family is very
busy going to football games, soocer games, and diving meets.

As a family, we are members of Grace Christian Fellowship in Summerville,
where we meet on Sundays to fellowship with friends who love the Lord. We
love to watch movies, eat out, and spend time with our families. We also
enjoy going to USC football games!

I love being at home with my family, teaching math (to middle schoolers) and
sunday school to toddlers, reading, exercising (Really!), cooking, listening
to music, flowers of every kind, and cross-stitching. My favorite food is
chocolate (the other food group). I REALLY enjoy eating out--particularly
at places like Hibachi Fusion, Sweatman's Bar-B-Que, Robert's,and the
Outback (cheese sticks, cheese dip, fettuccini, hash and rice, and
cheeseburgers being my main food groups--along with diet cherry coke). I am
addicted to cleaning and organizing everything I can get my hands on! Stay
away from me with your backpack. I'll try to organize it! I also love to
read Danielle Steel books.

This school year will mark my 16th year teaching, the last 12 of which have
been spent at DuBose Middle School and at Rollings Middle School, here in
Dorchester Two. Prior to this experience, I taught in Columbia at Irmo
Middle School, Campus R and in Lexington at Lexington Middle School. I have
also taught classes at Trident Technical College.

I grew up in St. George and Holly Hill and graduated Valedictorian of my
senior class at Holly Hill Academy. From there, I obtained my Bachelor's
Degree in Mathematics at Columbia College, where I also minored in
Education, French, and Computer Science. I attended USC in Columbia to earn
my Master's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. Most recently, I
obtained National Board Certification.

During my career, I have enjoyed coaching MathCounts, Math Quest, and Quiz
Bowl teams, monitoring peer tutoring programs, and working with homebound
students. I have also served as a team leader, department head, and mentor
to new teachers in the district and have worked with several student
teachers.

I am currently looking forward to simply teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra and
Geometry, too!

Now that you know some about me--send me a message and tell me a little
about your family and yourself! I look forward to hearing from you, getting
to know you better, and working with you this year...

Our Mission...

The mission for the Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry classes (OUR MISSION)
is to produce students who are confident in their ability to do mathematics!

Your knowledge of mathematics should increase (and your ability to do
mathematics should improve) as a result of being in this class. My goal is
to help you make this happen!!!
