NAME:
Scott Brunson
Scott Brunson, director, is a graduate of Furman University with degrees in
voice and music education. He has sung professionally in a variety of groups
and is regularly sought as a clinician and adjudicator throughout South
Carolina. He taught middle school and high school in Berkeley County for
eleven years before coming to Cario when the school opened in 1999.
The Cario program has a current enrollment of nearly 300 students. The
program has earned a reputation as one of the finest groups in South
Carolina, consistently scoring top honors at all festivals and competitions.
These students add daily music theory and sight reading to their ordinary
rehearsal schedule. Many of these young singers have represented our
community at county, state and even national honor choirs. In fact, Cario is
the only school in South Carolina to have students selected to every major
American Choral Directors Association honor choir for each of the past seven
years. In 2002, Cario Singers, the 7th and 8th grade choir, was invited to
perform in a major national choir at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The
group travels annually to Orlando in the spring and has traveled to Europe
three times.
Mr. B is a National Board Certified Teacher and has served on the South
Carolina Jr. High/Middle School Music Committee for nine years. As a
composer/arranger he has been commissioned to write pieces for several
public school, university and auditioned honor choirs. He and his wife,
Pamela, choral director at Rollings Middle School, also form the music staff
at Hibben United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
