How can I help my child with his/her reading?

1. Discuss the pictures in the story with your child, drawing attention to specific details.

2. Encourage your child to make predictions about the book based on the title and the pictures.

3. After reading the book, encourage your child to retell the story in their own words. Have them tell what happended in the beginning, middle, and the end of the story.

4. Ask your child if the story relates to them or any other stories he/she has read.

How can I help my child be a better writer?

Make writing a part of their daily lives:

1. Encourage your child to help you write your grocery list, things you need to remember, etc.

2. Keep writing paper and utensils available at all times.

3. Encourage your child to write cards and stories for relatives and friends.
