Happy Summer!!!!!
Just to fill you in on the "happenings" in my life; I am planning on
returning to WPS for the 2008-2009 school year, and I am graduating from the
M.Ed. Special Education program at Converse College this summer!
I just want to tell you how much I have enjoyed working with your children
in speech this past year, and I appreciate all the help that you give them
at home to improve their speech and language skills. Please keep up the
great work over the summer!
Remember:
If your child is working on a particular speech sound, practice the sound in
words throughout the summer days.
If your child is working on improving his or her language skills, encourage
him or her to answer ‘wh’ questions using pictures, stories, and/or events
as the topics of conversation. Play games that name vocabulary words,
adjectives, verbs, pronouns, etc., (i.e. I Spy, Simon Says, etc.)
If your child is working on improving his or her fluency skills, encourage
him or her to take a breath before speaking, use “slow, easy” speech, and to
stretch out words that he or she gets “stuck” on.
