About The Teacher

In 1991, I received my B.I.S. degree in Psychology/Theatre from the
University of South Carolina at Aiken. My undergraduate degree gave me the
opportunity to work in a variety of positions: Behavior Counselor, Art
Director, Human Resources, and 4K Teacher. I have loved every job that I
have had as I supported my husband's career as well as enjoying
many years to be a stay at home mom with my three, wonderful children. I
completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2006 and will be enjoying my 2nd
year with Woodruff Primary School.

I am married to Steven McNorrill and we celebrate our 17th wedding
anniversary this September. We have three wonderful children, two daughters
and one son. Our oldest, Victoria, is 13, Morgan is 11 years old, and Allen
is 8 years old. They are each a special gift!

I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!

My Philosophy

I embrace the belief that the purpose of education includes empowering
students, helping students develop their highest potential, building
knowledge of the world around them, and for them to become active,
contributing members of society. I recognize that having a climate that is
welcoming and well organized will encourage student’s to explore, take
chances, make mistakes, and grow as a result of their experiences. As their
teacher, it is my mission to instill the desire and motivation to learn; to
inspire student’s to take ownership of their education and willingly put
forth the effort to build and exercise their knowledge.
Being an educator is a privilege and an enormous responsibility. I
firmly believe that students are guests in my classroom. As my guest, each
student deserves the best care, respect, encouragement, and training I can
provide. Furthermore, I believe the basic curriculum of any classroom should
contribute to children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical
development. I desire that my students will be satisfied with who they are,
life-long learners, and strive for excellence in all they do.
