Curriculum

The High/Scope approach is the program that Prekindergarten and Kindergarten
Curriculum is delivered to our students.

*Active Learning*

"Children and adults learn best through hands-on experiences with people,
materials, events, and ideas. That principle — validated by decades of
research — is the basis of High/Scope's approach to teaching and learning.

Proven, research-based strategies for learning. The High/Scope Curriculum
emphasizes adult-child interaction, a carefully designed learning
environment, and a plan-do-review process that strengthens initiative and
self-reliance in children and young people. Teachers and students are active
partners in shaping the educational experience."

How do Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Standards work with ECERS-R?

The State Department of Education has created a correlation of
Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Standards with the Early Childhood
Environmental Rating Scale - Revised Edition (ECERS-R). This information is
necessary for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten teachers because this is what
is taught in the classroom. The alignment is helpful for parents because
you get to view the expectations for our students during their
Prekindergarten and Kindergarten years. To view this information in detail
go to the State Department's website at
http://ed.sc.gov/agency/offices/ece/documents/ECERSAlignmentMarch2006.pdf

If you have any questions about our curriculum, please e-mail me or call our
school phone number.
