Arrival and Dismissal at School

The school day begins at 8:00 and ends at 2:30. Children should not arrive at
school prior to 7:30. Children who arrive to school before 7:45 sit in the
hall, which is monitored by a teacher. At 7:45 children are dismissed to
their classrooms. Students not in the room by 8:00 are tardy. Students are
dismissed in groups via the television in our classroom beginning at 2:25.
All students should be picked up by 2:45.

Our Lunch Time and Visitors for Lunch

Our class goes to lunch from 12:10-12:35. You may come and eat lunch with your
child any day of the week. Please send a note if you plan on eating a school
lunch, so the cafeteria staff can prepare for an extra meal.

School Attendance

Your child's regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her
success. I can't emphasize this point enough!! A lot of our learning
activities are group oriented and involve interaction with classmates.
Therefore, it is next to impossible to make up this work at home. Please view
school as a priority, and see to it that your child attends everyday except in
cases of illness or emergency.

Notes for Absences

On the day your child returns to school, please, send a brief note
explaining the reason for the absence. If your child has been taken to the
doctor, a doctor's note is sufficient.

Classroom Visitors

We are glad to have parents visit our classroom to see how we learn. Please
send a note the day before your intended visit giving the time you plan to
come. Sometimes there are scheduling conflicts that may make it necessary to
reschedule. Remember to stop by the office to sign in and get a visitor's badge.

Transportation Changes

Please send a note if your child has a change of transportation
in the afternoon. Students will be required to follow the
transportation plan established at the beginning of the year, unless
a note is sent to the teacher on the day that the transportation
needs to be changed. This is for the safety of the student.

STAR Binder

Please check it daily and remove all "classwork". For more
information on the STAR Binders, please see our STAR Binders page of our website.

Money

On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school.
Always send money in a sealed envelope or zip-lock baggie with the following
information written on it:
1. Your child's name
2. The amount of money
3. The purpose for the money (lunch, field trip, etc.)
4. Mrs. Madden

This helps us out tremendously and reduces the likelihood of errors. Also, if
the envelope is lost this information will help the money to be returned to
our class. Many times students have money, but forget what it was for when
they arrive to school.

Birthdays

Birthdays are special occasions for young children. If your child wishes,
he/she may bring treats for the class. Please send a note a day or two in
advance, so we can give you an exact number of children and set aside a time
to enjoy the treats. Please do not send party invitations to school unless the
entire class has been invited. Although it may seem convenient to distribute
invitations this way, it can result in hurt feelings for those
not invited.
