Sketchpad AssignmentsYou will be completing a series of drawing lessons from the book Draw Squad by Mark Kistler. You will be assigned one drawing lesson a week, which will be due every Thursday. Each lesson includes six small drawings (worth 10pts) and a “sketchpad” assignment (10pts). In order to obtain all 20 points you must follow the step-by-step directions being sure to apply the key drawing word to each of your drawings along with any “extras”. You will use your sketchpads for these assignments so always have your sketchpad with you! If you finish class early, you may work on your drawing assignments. If you know you will miss art due to a school activity, your assignments must be handed in BEFORE YOU LEAVE! If you are absent due to illness, you may turn in your assignment the day you return. IMPORTANT: If your assignments are late you will receive a 10% deduction for the 1st day, 25% for the 2nd day and 50% for the 3rd day. After 3 days no credit will be given for an incomplete assignment. (Page 39 in the handbook)
GradingUpon completion of each project the student will fill out a self-evaluation based on criteria for the assignment. This allows the student to examine and evaluate the success of their artwork. Final grade will be based on Teacher Evaluation with consideration of student evaluation. See "Assessment" on webpage for an exmple of the evaluation.
Weighted GradesInfinite Campus will be updated weekly. Sketchpads assignments will be due every Thursday and grades for those assignments will be entered by Friday. Current projects will be entered on campus along with tentative due dates, grades will be entered upon completion of evaluations (this may take a couple of days.) Grades in infinite campus are weighted in the following way: Drawing Lessons 15% Drawing Unit 23.7% Clay Unit 23.5% Art history/Painting 23.5% Semester Tests 14.3%
