Tennessee Valley Authority

TVA has been Battle's Partner in Education since the opening of our doors in 2002. Over the years employees have volunteered their time teaching character education and mentoring students. TVA's annual golf tournament raises money for Battle's math, science, and technology needs. This financial support was an integral part of developing our science lab and made possible Promethean Activboards for all 2nd-5th grade classrooms. Proceeds from the annual tournament have enabled us to maintain existing technology while also providing professional development for our faculty. This partnership makes possible a LEGO Robotics program for over 20 Hamilton County schools. Thanks for all you do, TVA!

EPB

EPB has partnered with Battle since our opening, contributing funding to build our library collection into one of the largest and most up-to-date collections in Hamilton County elementary schools. Volunteers devoted many hours to working in our school library in our early years. Each year they donate a significant sum to support our fifth grade’s annual learning trip to Jekyll Island. We appreciate all you do for our school, EPB!

First Baptist Church - Chattanooga and First Baptist - East Eighth Street

These two churches have collaborated to support Battle students in a variety of ways since our opening. Battle students have received school supplies, uniforms, and holiday gifts from Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School participants, and youth groups. Members of the two churches have worked as math tutors, helping kids learn while building relationships. College students have served as mentors in School Age Child Care. Volunteers provide classroom celebrations for students. And a group of First Baptist – Chattanooga volunteers provide weekend snack bags for families in need on an ongoing basis. Our downtown faith partners have touched untold numbers of lives!

Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga

We received a $25,000 Community Foundation Grant during our first year to fund classroom libraries. Each classroom library provides hundreds of books for students to choose during in class reading or to take home and read with a parent. Over the years CFGC has facilitated a number of other grants benefitting Battle. Michael Schulson, a Baylor School student, funded a $1,000 environmental grant to assist our students in going to Jekyll Island. Michael also awarded an $800 grant for a roof garden recycling project. A McCallie student, Ethan Cohen, donated his bar mitzvah monetary gifts to Battle in order to provide our music room with key boards for student use. He also donated funds to purchase 15 Palm Pilots for the fourth grade. All these gifts as well were facilitated by CFGC as is the annual financial help resulting from the TVA golf tournament.

Hunter Museum of American Art

Museum staff members train a select group of 5th grade students as Junior Docents each semester of the school year. These students then lead tours for their classmates and teachers after learning about specific pieces of art; the confidence and expertise they gain will serve them well throughout their lives.

The Chattanoogan Hotel

Each year, a group of students travel to the Chattanoogan Hotel to sketch ideas for the hotel's annual holiday greeting card. They submit their finished artwork to the hotel's staff for consideration; one student's work graces the front of the card, while runners-up are featured on the back. The winners receive prizes from the hotel and the pride that comes from knowing their artwork is viewed by recipients around the world.

ArtsBuild and Tennessee Arts Commission

Ongoing support from ArtsBuild (formerly Allied Arts) and Tennessee Arts Commission makes possible a variety of experiences for our students. Second graders learn about storytelling through African dance. First graders incorporate science concepts into dance. Experiences such as these make our multiple intelligences theme come to life for children.
